Scottish Rite Playground Is One of Dallas’ Best Hidden Gems for Kids

Tucked beside Scottish Rite for Children near Downtown Dallas, Allan Shivers Park and the Lee Drain Children’s Courtyard is one of those playgrounds that feels like a hidden gem once you discover it.

Designed with accessibility and imaginative play in mind, the playground features a wide variety of play equipment for kids of different ages and abilities, along with open green space and shaded picnic areas for families.

One thing parents love about this park is that it feels quieter and more relaxed than many larger Dallas playgrounds while still offering plenty for kids to explore.

The park also includes:

  • Child-size and adult picnic tables
  • Restrooms nearby
  • Open grassy areas
  • Accessible playground features

Scottish Rite for Children allows families to reserve the space for birthday parties and gatherings, though patients and their families continue to have access to the playground at all times.

A few important things to know before visiting:

  • The park occasionally closes for private events or weather conditions
  • Only Mylar balloons are allowed
  • No pets, grills, alcohol, smoking, bounce houses, scooters, or similar equipment are permitted
  • Restrooms are located near the pavilion

Weekend Sprout tip: It’s a good idea to call ahead before visiting to make sure the park is open to the public that day.
