Create Your Own Butterfly Art at This Free Bilingual Workshop in Dallas
August 1 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Looking for a creative afternoon that goes beyond arts and crafts? This free community workshop invites teens and adults to turn memories into art while exploring storytelling, culture, and creativity.
Hosted by AURORA as part of its annual Art Quest program, Memory in Migration: Butterfly Art Workshop is a bilingual (English and Spanish) experience led by Dallas artist Karla Ramirez-Santin.
Participants will create a personalized butterfly using paper, collage, image transfers, and colorful markers. Your butterfly can be inspired by a favorite tradition, a meaningful place, family history, or someone special in your life. No artistic experience is needed, and all materials are provided.
What to Expect
The workshop begins with Karla sharing her own artistic journey before guiding participants through creative writing and hands-on art activities.
Each participant will create a unique butterfly artwork that can either be taken home or donated to become part of a future community art installation.
After the workshop, the experience continues with a fun Art Quest mini scavenger hunt throughout the Bachman Branch Library. Guided by performers from Teatro Dallas, participants will search for hidden reproductions of Karla’s artwork using interactive clues.
As a bonus, every registered participant will receive a complimentary ticket to Meow Wolf Grapevine while supplies last.

Whether you’re an aspiring artist or simply looking for a meaningful afternoon, this workshop offers a wonderful opportunity to create, connect, and celebrate the stories that make each of us unique. 🌱
